| What is Wrong With NC Elections? Very basic over-view from the year 2004, before Carteret County lost 4,400 votes, and when we first began working to get a law.
| Bribery in NC Read this the next time someone at the SBOE bristles at our request for an ethics policy. Remember this when told that the voter can't be trusted.
| Ethics in N.C.? Find out how our top election officials get their advise from group that accepts donations from voting machine companies. NC Election officials going to Hollywood with Diebold, ES&S and Sequoia this August 2005! Shame! Update: Our Executive Director Gary Bartlett is no longer on the Board of Directors for the "Election Center". Kudos to Mr. Bartlett, we appreciate this very much.
| Unilect Problems in Burke and Carteret County Unilect Patriot voting systems decertified in Pennsylvania, yet North Carolina continues to use them.
| Guilford County The Election Director of this county is a very vocal opponent of Voter Verified Paper Ballots. This page rebutts the arguments put forth into the media by Guilford's Election Director. Addresses lost votes, annual costs and voting tabulator that counted backwards in 2004.
Machines by County Lists the types of voting machines each county had before our law was passed.
| Choices for Counties Survey of the punchcard and lever counties as to what equipment they were considering prior to our change of law. Congrats to Hoke County who chose well.

| Activists Tools fliers, brochures, handouts | 2004 News What went wrong in 2004, (alot!) This bolstered our argument for a law requiring voter verified paper ballots. | 1998 - 2003 News Voting machine failure before 2004, showing that paperless voting machines lost votes before, and the SBOE had warning that it could happen. Also, anything electronic can fail.
| Computer Experts NC E-Voting critics, and national experts | Quotes - dumb and intelligent statements about NC election problems. Some are shockingly stupid! These quotes are good for making the point for serious election reform in NC.
| Links to Verified Voting Websites some links to help you get up to speed, and also some of the best links for reliable info
| Really Blind! Very smart essay that destroys the myth that electronic voting allows anyone to vote un-assisted. A must read article.
| Instant Runoff Voting What people in favor of IRV do not want you to read. So don't read it unless you want to anger them. Instant Runoff Voting can be done with Hand Counted Paper Ballots, but with computers, further muddies any transparency.
| Vote By Mail Some interesting articles about voting by mail. | Oregon VBM How Oregon implemented their VBM program, and how it is working for them.
| Machine Clearinghouse Provided by www.VotersUnite.org . A database of breakdowns by electronic voting machine vendor. Great in pointing out that each vendor has a long history of problems, and that they do not seem to resolve them. |
S223 was passed by the State Legislature!
- Our efforts to get it properly implemented were successful with these actions: take action
- Computer scientists recommend optical scan systems
- DREs don't meet all of the standards of Help America Vote Act
- We took Action to make sure we still have paper ballots in 2008!
Counties MUST comply with the law to have voter verified paper ballots in 2006. They will be allowed to choose equipment after the State Board of Elections Certifies approved systems. All systems must have at least 2002 federal certification.
